Plot assignments will be limited to Two (2) garden plot per household.
Applications will not be considered until after the appropriate registration date.
Our community gardens are closed during the winter months. The Plot It Fresh season runs from April to November, weather permitting.
Our Smith Street Garden is located at 144 Smith Street and is open dawn to dusk. The garden contains 27 raised beds of various sizes and a shared herb garden which is maintained by Greater Newark Conservancy.
Greater Newark Conservancy offers hands-on, inquiry based environmentally themed programs. The Conservancy’s professional staff is a partner in educating your students.
Get outside and enjoy some nature at our Outdoor Learning Center or Urban Farm! Volunteers are a vital part of Greater Newark Conservancy’s mission and operations. You can volunteer as an individual or as a group.
We’re very proud that the opening of our Judith L. Shipley Urban Environmental Center in 2004 marked the very first appearance of an urban environmental center in New Jersey.
