Samuel Huber
The Diane Schwarz Founder's Award
Sam Huber is a lifelong educator devoted to the belief that “civic and institutional growth begins with the continuous development of the skills and interests of the people engaged in any particular organization or communal endeavor.” He has served as Director for the JM Huber Corporation, a global family-held specialty materials manufacturer, and for CP Kelco, a global specialty ingredients manufacturer. Sam also serves as a Trustee for the Open Space Institute in New York, NY and as President and Secretary of the Stone Foundation of New Jersey.
Sam’s family has a long history of advocacy for land conservation and environmental protection, and was attracted to the Conservancy’s blending of environmental themes and the urban landscape. “What excites me is the Conservancy’s ability to evolve its mission, and keep things flexible and responsive to community needs.”
