Greening the community is fun, and certainly makes the city more beautiful! What’s even more fun? Planting your own productive vegetable garden that will nourish your body as well as your spirit!

By “adopting” one of our 4’x8’ or 4’x4′ garden plots, community members can spend time outside in the sunshine, working with their hands and their community to produce beautiful – and bountiful – fresh food gardens. For a yearly investment of $15 (or $8 for a smaller bed), our Plot It Fresh program provides Newark residents with gardening and farming education, as well as access to gardening space in Newark, since not everyone has the space to start a garden. Plot It Fresh even supplies startup materials, such as seeds, and technical gardening assistance for members!

In addition to the immediate benefit of learning new skills in urban gardening and farming, Plot It Fresh members will be able to provide healthy fresh produce fresh for their family while saving on their grocery budget– a gratifying experience all around!

Plot It Fresh gardens are located at: Hawthorne Avenue Farm, Smith Street garden, and the Sussex Avenue garden.
